In January of 2008, the North Royalton High School Marching Band was accepted to participate in the "Mass Band Halftime Show" for the BCS National Championship in the Superdome in New Orleans. In addition to performing with some of the elite high school bands throughout the country at halftime, the band also competed in the Bowl Games of America Sponsored Marching Band Competition, and won the title, "Best Overall Music."
In January of 1995 and 2010, the NRHS Wind Ensemble performed at the Bowling Green State University Reading Clinic.
In September of 2004, the NRHS Marching Band performed at halftime performance at a Cleveland Browns Football Game.
In the Spring of 2010, North Royalton was one of only a few school districts to have 4 concert bands participate in OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events. Additionally, North Royalton was the ONLY school in the state that had all four concert bands earn "Superior" Ratings at the State Finals. North Royalton also achieved this in 2007 & 2003.
The North Royalton HS Marching Band has Qualified for the OMEA State Marching Band Finals every year since 1986. At the OMEA State Finals the NRHS Marching Band earned "Superior" Ratings in Class A from 1990-1994, and in Class AA From 1995-2010. North Royalton is proud to be one of the longest running bands to consistently qualify for the OMEA State Finals!
The North Royalton HS Marching band has earned the title of "Grand Champion" at the following Marching Band Competitions:
Northcoast Marching Contest at Perkins HS: 1991-1994; 1997-2000; 2008-2010
Marlington HS Contest: 1993
Copley HS Contest: 2001-2003
Nordonia HS Contest: 2010
In October of 2002, North Royalton Participated in the Bands Of America Youngstown Regional, and finished in the top 12 bracket of bands, earning them a spot in the Finals Performances that evening.
In May 2006, the North Royalton High School Marching Band performed at the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the Indianapolis 500, and marched in the parade in downtown Indianapolis and marched in the parade on the actual track of the Indianapolis 500 Race!
The North Royalton High School Band Program has two Jazz Bands, and among many local performances, have performed at the Bowling Green State University High School Jazz Invitational, the HS Coaches Recognition Dinner at the IX Center, and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
The North Royalton High School Marching Band performed as part of Disney's Magic Music Days and performed in front of an audience of thousands before the evening Spectro-Magic Parade or afternoon Parade throughout the Magic Kingdom in the Spring of 2010, 2004, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1994, 1992, 1990, & 1988.
The North Royalton High School Band Program is proud to be the largest student organization on campus with over 280 members. The Band Program incorporates a competitive corps-style marching band, 4 Concert Bands, 2 Jazz Bands, Pit Orchestra, Winter Drumline, Winterguard, Winter Dance Team, Brass Choir, Woodwind Choir, and Saxophone Choir.
The North Royalton High School Wind Ensemble Performed for the Ohio Music Education Association State Conference in January of 1996.
In January of 2003, North Royalton earned a spot in the coveted Tournament of Roses Parade held in Pasadena, California. North Royalton was the one band representing the state of Ohio in 2003, and marched with 320 members. In addition to participating in the parade the band also competed in the Marching Band Competition Field Show with the other marching bands that were performing in the parade.
North Royalton was named the Best Marching Band in the Greater Cleveland Area by the Cleveland Magazine in 1998.
The North Royalton High School Marching Band was selected to be in the Cleveland Indians World Series Parade, welcoming the team back to Cleveland after they participated in the 1997 World Series. The Band marched the parade route through Downtown Cleveland and was one of the few elite bands chosen for this parade.
The North Royalton High School Marching Band marched in the City of Cleveland Bicentennial Parade in 1996. North Royalton was selected to participate in the parade representing the "Best Marching Band in Cleveland" as named by the Cleveland Magazine.
The North Royalton High School Wind Ensemble Performed in Severance Hall as part of the North East Ohio Band Invitational in January of 2007. The band performed a variety of repertoire including new pieces on the OMEA Adjudicated Events List in the famed home of the Cleveland Orchestra.
